New Kawasaki Versys 1100 launched overseas

– Gets a bigger 1,099cc engine

– Power and torque have seen an increment

– India launch might take place early next year

Kawasaki has finally launched the new Versys 1100 touring motorcycle in Europe. A successor to the Versys 1000, this mile-muncher has received a lot of changes which make it a more enticing package.

As we already know, the displacement has gone up from 1,043cc to 1,099cc. While the bore of this inline-four mill has remained the same at 77mm, the stroke length has been enlarged from 56mm to 59mm. Plus, it boasts a higher compression ratio, a heavier flywheel, longer intake funnels inside the airbox, narrower intake ports, and new camshafts with reduced valve lift. As a result, the power output has gone up from 118bhp to 133bhp while the torque output has seen an increment of 11Nm to reach 112.5Nm.

Kawasaki has introduced the new Versys 1100 in three variants including base, S, and SE, which is the same as before. The top-spec SE trim gets Showa electronic semi-active suspension while the other two variants get manual suspension with less adjustment provisions. The only other hardware tweak comes in the form of a 10mm larger 260mm rear disc brake. On the feature front, Kawasaki has included a USB Type-C charging port and the list of updates end there.

The Kawasaki Versys 1000 is no longer on sale in India which means the 1100 should debut soon. It was priced at Rs. 13.91 lakh, ex-showroom and the updated model should demand a considerable premium.
