– Powered by a 947cc, liquid-cooled motor
– Will develop 128bhp and 103Nm
– Launch likely in 2025
KTM has been testing the sportier R version of the 990 Duke for quite some time now. The new KTM 990 Duke R will be more powerful and feature premium components than the regular 990 Duke. Ahead of its global launch, the technical details of the 990 Duke R have leaked.

Although it will be powered by a 947cc, parallel-twin, LC8c engine that powers the 990 Duke, the motor is expected to produce a maximum output of 128bhp and a peak torque of 103Nm. The standard model develops 123bhp at 9,500rpm, but the R variant will develop its peak power at around 10,500rpm.

The KTM 990 Duke R is also expected to be lighter than the standard model, which tips the scales at 179kg. The R variant could have a kerb weight of 175kg. The motorcycle is also expected to feature premium componentry such as lighter wheels, fully adjustable WP suspension and Brembo Stylema brakes.

Visually, it will feature an orange frame and a different exhaust canister to differentiate itself from the standard model. KTM could showcase the 990 Duke R at EICMA 2024, while a market launch is expected in 2025.
